Tips and Tricks For Anxiety

  • Create a schedule:

    • Whether it’s on your phone, a computer or a notebook, give yourself a head start by jotting down everything coming up for you. It doesn’t matter if it’s the day or week ahead but having an allotted space and time for everything certainly gives you the feeling of control.

  • Journal:

    • Doesn’t matter if it’s quick blurbs or pages, sometimes getting your thoughts down on paper can help you figure out what’s going on!

  • Cut out processed foods:

    • It’s so easy to stop by a drive thru after a long day at work or to pick up those potato chips while watching tv. Instead, try to pick up finger veggies, fruit and hummus or even healthier alternatives to snacks such as baked potato chips. Also, consider making meals for the week ahead so you don’t have the option to go outside of what’s already made. It’s not bad to enjoy something salty or sweet in moderation but it’s very easy to get carried away.

  • Quiet time:

    • Taking a few minutes out of the day, doesn’t matter what time of day, to simply sit with yourself and your thoughts can be an instant recharge. Try to remove yourself from all sound and sit in a space where you can’t be disturbed and yes, your car does count.

  • Get up and get moving:

    • You don’t have to have a gym membership to truly enjoy moving your body. Sometimes a stroll around the block can do the trick or even a dip in the pool, either way, keeping our bodies active can sometimes give our minds a rest. Do you have a great playlist?

  • Do something that makes you happy at least once a day:

    • A wise man once told me that his day isn’t complete without listening to his favorite song. It’s very simple but it’s also something that brings him joy in an otherwise busy day. For me, it’s a nice cup of green tea in the morning, bonus points if I get to sit and sip but it also works when I have to take it on the go. Either way, doing at least one thing that makes you happy everyday can change your whole perspective of the day.
